Can you believe it, this is the third major holiday this year contributed by the catholic religion. And guess what, the premise behind it is a crock of shnit!!! There all kinds of myths behind the reason why we celebrate this day of green BEER!! All of them are a CROCK!! Everything we now do to in celebration of this day has nothing to do with the true meaning of this day.

The myths of this day are based on a man doing different things to save some people. Leprechauns, clovers, snakes and beer have all been integrated into this day so that many people can come together for celebration. 90% of the things we think as integral parts of this day have all been added out of necessity. They have nothing to do with why this day is observed. But since they were added, we are able to call this a true celebration.

St Patrick was born in Britain. His father was a deacon in “The Church”. It was believed he only did it to receive certain tax privileges. His family didn’t really believe or practice any sort of religion. St Patrick was taken by some Irish thieves who plundered his family’s estate when he was young. He served as a Slave/Shepard in Ireland up until he was able to escape his captor six years after being captured. Once he escaped, he returned back to Britain where he became a priest. He then returned to Ireland 15 yrs later to convert the pagan people to religion.
The day of celebration for ST patricks is in remembrance of his death. Most of the celebrative tactics implemented for this day, have been added through out the years. Most of which were added by the American culture once this holiday was brought from Ireland. Some do have a myth behind them, but for the most part all are merely for celebrative purposes. They have nothing to do with the actual remembrance of this once Patron Saint. It is believed that St Patricks day has become so popular is because of its proximity to spring. It just comes down to the fact that people have cabin fever and want to get out and celebrate something!!

OK PEOPLE Mardi Gras is just around the corner. Get out, get those beads and get to a place that is celebrating this glorious holiday. If you have never been, it will be the best time of your life. If you are a patron of this day, you know what I am talking about.

Mardi gras has been celebrated in Europe since the 1600’s. The true beginning of mardi gras started with the catholic religion integrating pegan rituals. Mardi gras is the last day for Catholics to do what they want before Lent. Lent being a period of time to give up something in their life to prove they believe in religion. Sounds hokey right? But without this wondrous dedication from the largest influential organization IN THE WORLD, we wouldn’t have the best damn holiday ever thought of.

Once brought into the American culture through migration of people from Europe to the Americas, Mardi Gras morphed into what we see today. Different items, beliefs, and rituals incorporated into this celebration have made it one of the biggest observed celebrations in the American Culture. Fat Tuesday, which is the actual French meaning for the day of Mardi Gras, once was set a side for drinking and orgies by the Romans (pegan people). The precedence set by the Romans is still observed in a much smaller scale.

Today we use a type of bartering where types of beaded necklaces are exchanged for a quick glimpse of the anatomy of the opposite sex. Now this is where it gets exciting, the bartering has no set scale, so even the crappiest beads can get you more than just a quick glimpse. It all depends on the other part of this glorious celebration which is the glutinous consumption of alcoholic beverages. The more alcohol consumed by the person you are bartering with, the more they are willing to do for beads.

Local establishments through out the US observe this glorious holiday. Each has their own twist on the events for this night. But they all have the same basic elements, drinking, beads and LOTS O FLESH. This event is something you need to make sure you do not miss. Valentines Day (Hoax?)

Valentines Day is the dedicated day for lovers. It is a nationally celebrated day for those who believe in love, so they can find a person to show appreciation to. Usually the appreciation is shown in many various ways including; dinner, flowers, candy or any discrete action in the name of love.

This day was started by the Catholic Church to honor one of their patron saints, and yes it truly was the patron saint of romance. The church later renounced this proclamation towards their beloved ST of love, which caused a local government at that time, to make it a recognized public holiday despite what the church wanted.

While the history of valentines seems to be a bunch of fluff, the actual day has drawn some special attention to it. Some people call it a Hallmark day because of the amount of money spent on cards, gifts and such to show appreciation. Other protest this day for their own reasons, mostly because they do not have someone to celebrate it with. The day is truly what you make of it right?

In this society is it considered taboo for people not to celebrate valentines. Since the majority of the people consider valentines the true measure of affection, or the true measure of how much you’re loved, it is also considered shameful not to have a date on this day. For those of you who believe this BITE ME..ha ha ha..

This day should be a celebration of independence. It is proof that you are stronger than the peer pressure and the hype build up for the importance of this day. It is proof that you alone are the only thing which will make you happy.

If you chose to be with someone then it is your choice. Embrace the independence this day will bring. If you are alone and feel you have to be with someone, go to a bar and find a special one night stand. You will get the satisfaction of being with someone on this day, But you wont have to spend the gratuitous amount of money, or make false promises to someone you KNOW you wont be with in a week..ha ha ha..

Ok Lets face it there are some shnitty Anti-Valentines day sites out there. Everything and I mean everything is dedicated to the love of being loved.. So here are my ideas to protest this freaking holiday..

Go to your local pub and party it up.. There will probably be a room full of other people who are in the same situation you are.

Get some friends together and either have dinner at a private residence. Or go out to a restaurant. Have pre-made cards ready to either hand out to each other before the dinner, or hand out to the restaurant wait staff. You can make the cards about why you are glad you are not celebrating Valentines Day.

Go to the scariest movie in the local dollar movie theater, then eat the cheapest fast food available in your town (Usually gas station food), add in a bunch of the cheapest beer you can buy. This will allow you to have dinner and a movie without spending a large amount of money.

Watch Porn.. Good idea to share with friends or enjoy alone.

Hold an annual contest with friends or family to see who can pick up one of the wait staff at one of the places you go to. Place points on certain establishments. For example: Restaurant waitress 5 points, restaurant cook 15 points, person cleaning the restrooms, 50 points. Person cleaning the restrooms at the local bar - winner!!

Everyone has a party side which is busting to get out. There are certain times a year which encourage a party or celebration. While other times a year seem like there is nothing going on. This is the reason you come to this blog.
